The SD1970 is a reincarnation of the Seiko 6105, colloquially known as the "Captain Willard" for its role in the movie “Apocalypse Now”. The film’s wardrobe department knew that while American servicemen were issued with US military specification MIL-W-46374 ‘H3’ watches, produced by American watchmakers Benrus, Hamilton, Westclox and Marathon, American servicemen, on their arrival in Saigon, bought Seiko dive watches for their reliability and robustness. The rubber strap was more comfortable than the nylon ‘Nato’ straps that came with the American watches.

99% of dive watches are never used for diving, but we may all one day find ourselves knee deep in a rice paddy.

The SD1970 comes with an extra Steeldive branded rubber strap. If you want a nylon Nato strap you’re on your own.

**PLEASE BE AWARE THIS IS THE STERILE/NO LOGO VERSION.THERE ARE NO STEELDIVE LOGOS ON THE DIAL,CASE OR CROWN**

We’re afraid the specifications of the SD1970 are “classified”. Oh, go on then...
